East Africa
- Globe Star grounded off Mombasa, Kenya in April 1973
- HMS Gulland (T239) a 545 ton Isles class trawler built for World war II. Grounded 13 April 1951 three miles north of Mombasa, Kenya
- SMS Königsberg (1905) sunk in the Rufiji River in July 1915
- HMS Pegasus sunk at Zanzibar on 20 September 1914
Algeria
- French battleship Bretagne Lead ship of her class, sunk 3 July 1940.
- HMT Rhona a British troop carrier sunk north of Béjaïa in an air attack during World War II on 26 November 1943.

Morocco/Western Sahara
- Commerce . American merchant ship, she ran aground off Cape Bojador in what is now the Western Sahara in 1815. The surviving crew, led by Captain James Riley, were subsequently captured and taken as slaves by local tribes.
Tunisia
- Mahdia an ancient shipwreck discovered in 1907.
Southern Africa
Namibia
- Bom Jesus a Portuguese Nau that set sail from Lisbon in 1533. It was discovered in 2008 on the coast near Oranjemund.
- MV Dunedin Star , ran aground on the Skeleton Coast, 80 km south of the Cunene River, on 29 November 1942.
- Eduard Bohlen a freighter ran aground south of Conception Bay in 1909.
- Natal coast a Durban steamer which went aground near Walvis Bay circa 1954. 3,078 ton coaster ran aground north of Swakopmund, South-West Africa. The crew of 35 abandoned the ship which was pounded by heavy seas only a few hundred yards from the shore. I was told that the crew on this ship was not permitted off the ship until armed guards arrived to prevent sailors from picking up diamonds which were all over the beach.
South Africa
Eastern Cape
- Doddington , an East Indiaman wrecked in 1755 at Bird Island in Algoa Bay.
- Grosvenor an East Indiaman, wrecked Sunday 4 August 1782 off the Pondoland coast, South Africa.
- MTS Oceanos a cruise liner sank off the Transkei Coast, after leaving East London on route to Durban on 3 August 1991.
Western Cape
- Arniston a British East Indiaman, requisitioned for troop transport, wrecked near Waenhuiskrans, Western Cape on 30 May 1815.
- HMS Birkenhead a British iron-hulled troopship that struck a submerged rock near Gansbaai, Western Cape on 26 February 1852.
- BOS 400 ran aground on Duiker point after breaking loose while being towed around the Cape Peninsula by the tug Tigr in a storm in June 1994.
- British Peer , a three-masted iron sailing ship. Ran aground in 1896 near the Cape of good hope.
- Cospatrick A wooden 3-masted full-rigged sailing ship. Caught fire and sank 17 November 1874 with a loss of 369 souls.
- HMS Guardian , a 44-gun Roebuck Class ship laid down in 1780. Severely damaged by an iceberg in 24 December 1789, the ship was sailed an amazing 400 leagues to the Cape of Good Hope where she was intentionally grounded.
- Ikan Tanda Cargo ship ran aground near Cape Town in 2001. Re-floated, but scuttled 200 miles from shore.
- Joanna , the first East Indiaman to be wrecked off the South African coast. Wrecked near Cape Town in 1682. A considerable amount of gold was on the ship.
- Johanna Wagner a Prussian barque that ran ashore due to navigational error near Muizenberg on 15 July 1862.
- SS Maori a Shaw Savill Line steamship wrecked near Llandudno, Cape Town on 5 August 1909.
- HMS Pelorus , a British Algerine -class minesweeper built in 1943. Scuttled in 1994 to make an artificial reef at Miller's Point near Simon’s Town, South Africa.
- SAS President Kruger A South African frigate, sank after a collision with a refueling ship.
- HMS Sceptre , a 64-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. Ran aground, 5 November 1799 near the Cape of good hope.
- HMS Thames a former Mersey class cruiser that became famous as the SATS General Botha , a merchant naval training ship. After retiring as a training ship, she reverted back to her original name and was sunk in False Bay near Simon's Town as a target.
- SS Thomas T. Tucker a Houston built munitions carrier ran ashore on Oliphantsbos point near Cape Point on 27 November 1942.
West Africa
- MV Joola a Senegalese passenger ship that capsized off the coast of The Gambia on 26 September 2002.
- Medusa French passenger ship which sank near Bank of Arguin in 1816 ( see Raft of the Medusa by Géricault in the Louvre).Medusa
- French cruiser Primauguet , a French Duguay-Trouin -class light cruiser laid down in 1923. She was sank by gunfire from the Massachusetts in 8 November 1942.
- William D. Lawrence Built in 1874, in Maitland, Nova Scotia. Sunk in Dakar, Africa.
Middle East
Saudi Arabia
- Al Basmalah I since about 2000, built as MV Glen Sannox in 1957.
- Al-Fahad , ex Free Enterprise III , that anchored after engine problems in 2004 and is reported to have since become semisubmerged. Some 14.6 kilometers southwest of the old city center of Jeddah at 21°22′35.67″N 39°07′13.51″E / 21.376575°N 39.1204194°E / 21.376575; 39.1204194 ( Al-Fahad (ex Free Enterprise III) ) .
- Saudi Golden Arrow at 20°52′02.87″N 39°21′39.77″E / 20.8674639°N 39.3610472°E / 20.8674639; 39.3610472 ( Saudi Golden Arrow ) , ex Norwegian Ferry MS Europafergen , reported laid up at Shoieba.

- Aden P&O ship lost of Socotra in 1897
- SS Hutton wrecked in the Gulf of Aden, 1882

- HMS Victoria a British battleship that sank in 1893.
Turkey
- Cape Gelidonya a Phoenician merchant vessel wrecked around 1200 BC.
- Uluburun shipwreck a merchant shipwreck dating to the late Bronze Age.
- Bouvet shipwreck was a French pre-Dreadnought battleship, launched in 1896 and sunk by Turkish coastal artilery at Dardanelles in 1915 during World War I.
- HMS Ben My Chree (meaning=Lady of my Heart) an English Carrier vessel. built as cruise ship, remodelled as a carrier vessel for the I. World War, sunk by Turkish coastal artillery under command of "Captain Mustafa Ertuğrul Aker" ("who here by is the commander of the first artillery unit who shot a carrier vessel") from the Turkish mainland in Kaş while at the island of Kastelorozi (Meis adası) anchered at the harbour at December 27th 1916. several ships damaged. Approximate place of sinking. 36degree 9min 1.18sec N, 29degree 35min 26.91sec E
- SS Paris II shipwreck a French Cruiser sunk by Turkish coastal artillery under command of "Captain Mustafa Ertuğrul Aker" in Antalya/Kemer inside the Avova Bay (Ağva Körfezi) December 13th 1917. coordinates 36degree 36min 08.06sec N ; 30degree 35min 10.93sec E at 30m depth. approximatly 150 shots fired of which 110 hit the target. crew rescued by Turkish soldiers, and taken care of their wounds.
- SS Alexandra a French Cruiser sunk by Turkish coastal artillery under command of "Captain Mustafa Ertuğrul Aker" about 1 mile outside the Avova Bay (Ağva Körfezi) February 8th 1918. no single shot fired. sunk by a little vessel filled with dynamite built inside the vessel hollows, covered by Orange boxes, activated by wire. This ship is never found again. Divers all around the world are searching for the vessel, no trace...

- MV Ghazi and MV Dighirpir collision and capsized in Padma River, Keranigonj, Ruhitpur, at least 250 people confirmed dead on May, 1973.
- Ferry boat Rushi capsized by stormy conditions in Padma River in April 1980, 230 people confirmed dead.
- Shamia , double-decker ferry, capsized in Meghna River in southern Barisa during May 1986, killing over 600.
- Atlas Star , double-decker ferry capsized in Dhaleswar River, Munshiganj, during April 1986, killing at least 500.
